"What is With the Plant People?"
This painting started my complete obsession with combining plants and people. I was sitting in church and this image of people growing and changing as their lives go on was planted in my mind.
As I painted this series, I saw more and more what this metaphor meant. People grow and change. We have different seasons in our lives that require different parts of us to develop.

Those parts of us that develop but aren't needed always are like the vines that grow for a season to allow plants to photosynthesize, but are just offshoots in an opposite direction than the plant is ultimately traveling.

It is such an honor to get to share this special series with people. It means so much to me and I am so grateful that others have latched onto it as well. What a beautiful gift to get to share this experience of being human with you.
People saw this and other metaphors in the Growth Series. Many have really latched onto this idea and have commissioned their own personalized plant people to tell their unique story
When the time comes, the plant will adjust the resources it takes in and will grow in the direction it needs to go. Sometimes this means the offshoot dies to allow the nutrients to go where they need to.

This death doesn't mean that branch was unimportant. it served its purpose and now the plant can go where it was meant to.
